The Last DC-3

Photographed by Patrick Kenny, this shot of an old Douglas DC-3 propeller plane sitting at the end of a runway won this month's photo competition. The image, which captures the plane bathed in moonlight against a night sky, not only evokes a bygone era of aeronautics, but also a period of vast technological advancement that culminated in space flight.
