Remember this one?? See above.? He's out from morning until night in the sun.? Plus he's a truck driver, so left side of his face & the arm out the window & left leg in the sun all day.? David had a very good friend, Gary.? He was at a family party & his brother (a doctor) said he should get this funny looking mole on his back checked out.? Three months later our dear friend died of skin cancer (Melanoma).? It was because of that story Dave went to see the doctor & got a biopsy taken on this brown spot on his neck, and I thank the Lord that he did.

It turned out to be squamous cell (in-carcinoma).? Squamous?cell?skin cancer is a type of tumor that affects the skin. Cancer - skin -?squamous?cell; Skin cancer -?squamous?cell?Squamous?cell?cancer results when cells in the ...

?Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC or SqCC), occasionally rendered as "squamous-cell carcinoma", is a histologically-distinct form of cancer. It arises from the uncontrolled multiplication of transformed malignant cells showing squamous differentiation and tissue architecture. Squamous cell carcinoma is one of the most common cancers, and frequently forms in a large number of body tissues and organs, including skin, lips, mouth, esophagus, urinary bladder, prostate, lung, vagina, and cervix, among others. Despite the common name, squamous cell carcinomas often show large differences, depending on where they develop, in their presentation, natural history, prognosis, and response to treatment. (from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).

? Yes, it was Cancer, but not the bad kind that kills you it rarely spreads, but if you don't do anything about it it could kill you.? They ordered a complete x-cision of the mole, which they did today.? Dave is fine, but my nerves are frazzled.? My prayers were answered when the doctor said he got it 100%.? So my friends supposedly this all starts when you're young, and being in the sun too long.? So, when we go out we're going to get him a hat and sunscreen.? David is my world, and he's changed a very dismal life into one happy and loving life for me.? If your husband's work makes him an outdoor man show this too him and be cautious.?

Do it because you care, and I've shared the news with you because...? I care!

(Picture of the cell removed at husband's request).

This is my siteWritten by editor on June 29, 2011 ? 9:28 pm

You will find plenty of benefits of hiring a moving company. One of the services that you must check out is the moving insurance, this kind of service is essential particularly if you have valuable items to be moved. In case that the movers accidentally damage or break anything, the company where they?re working will be liable for its damage. The greatest benefit is that the stress of packing and moving all your possessions would be taken care of by the company. You do not have to do anything at all once you employ their services. Every moving company ensures you optimal service, nevertheless, not all of them in reality offer quality service. So, before you plan your next move, read through a number of moving companies? reviews to choose a good Australian mover. You are able to make use of these companies to pack each piece of equipment for you.

A staff of employees from the company arrives at your house one day before the actual move and packs everything in boxes, big and small. A good moving company will provide you with a free estimate and effective cost plan for your move. If you prefer a hassle free and convenient relocation, you need to hire a reliable and trustworthy relocation company to do the job. Before booking with a moving company, ask them with regards to their services. Make sure that your possessions and special items will be respected. Ask what sort of licenses and certificates your movers hold.

Make sure all of the details of what a moving company has agreed to be in writing before you proceed. This should consist of what services they?ll provide, when the work will be completed, the process for any complaints or damaged goods, and what the final cost will be. There are even some other companies that specialize in renting and moving trucks only. Here people should do all of the packing along with loading and unloading. The moving truck would be driven from one place to another by the customer himself. Moving companies employ professionals including those that handle office and house moving.

They provide affordable prices also and this has led to the increase in demand for their services especially if we give some thought to how simple the process of moving becomes. One good thing of hiring this kind of services whether for office or residential move is their insurance service. This will protect your things from any accidents air damages caused by negligence on the part of the company or their employees. Make sure that you investigate about the company by means of agencies such as Better Business Bureau to determine if any complaints have been lodged against it. Charges as well vary from state to state. While doing your inspection, it?s very important to look for bumps around the perimeter of the van and to determine if the other electrical features of the van are working.

Pay particular attention to the air conditioner and turn signals. If you?re on a tight time period, it is a good idea to check when you can have a vehicle from the moving van companies you are looking at. Many people like paying for an extra day so that they can either start loading up the night before, or at least, start at the crack of dawn. In a nutshell, you will find lots of benefits of hiring a moving company.

FACT CHECK: Obama and his gallery of rogues (AP)

WASHINGTON ? President Barack Obama seems to have forgotten about Al Gore and the ashtray smashed to smithereens. Obama told a news conference Wednesday he was going where no president had gone before in attacking burdensome federal regulations.

In reality, many presidents have been there and done that. Bill Clinton, for one, ordered a sweeping review of the thicket of rules and his vice president took a hammer to the ashtray on TV to underscore one dumb regulation.

Regulations, corporate jet owners, hedge fund managers and Moammar Gadhafi formed a sort of rogue's gallery in Obama's remarks as the president talked about debt negotiations with Republicans, the NATO campaign in Libya, the war in Afghanistan and more. But the tale behind each rogue is more complex than was told.

A look at some of his statements and how they compare with the facts:

OBAMA: "What I have done ? and this is unprecedented, by the way, no administration's done this before ? is I've said to each agency, don't just look at current regulations or don't just look at future regulations, regulations that we're proposing, let's go backwards and look at regulations that are already on the books, and if they don't make sense, let's get rid of them. And we are in the process of doing that, and we've already identified changes that could potentially save billions of dollars for companies over the next several years."

THE FACTS: Plenty of other presidents have gone on the hunt for needless federal regulations.

Clinton gave the job of "reinventing government" to his vice president, Gore, who wielded the hammer on David Letterman's "Late Show" in 1993 to demonstrate silly federal rules on ashtray safety. Clinton signed an executive order directing agencies to eliminate half of all internal regulations, and a companion order taking aim at regulations that affect people outside of government.

The Government Accountability Office reported in 2007: "Every president since President Carter has directed agencies to evaluate or reconsider existing regulations. For example, President Carter's Executive Order 12044 required agencies to periodically review existing rules; one charge of President Reagan's task force on regulatory relief was to recommend changes to existing regulations; President George H.W. Bush instructed agencies to identify existing regulations to eliminate unnecessary regulatory burden; and President Clinton, under section 5 of Executive Order 12866, required agencies to develop a program to `periodically review' existing significant regulations. In 2001, 2002, and 2004, the administration of President George W. Bush asked the public to suggest reforms of existing regulations."

___

OBAMA: "I've said to some of the Republican leaders, `You go talk to your constituents ? the Republican constituents ? and ask them, are they willing to compromise their kids' safety so that some corporate jet owner continues to get a tax break?' And I'm pretty sure what the answer would be."

THE FACTS: Obama mentioned the tax break on corporate jets six times, enough so a viewer might think eliminating it would be offer significant savings to the government.

The benefit, which relates to how corporations write off the value of private jets, is worth just about $3 billion over 10 years, according to Republican congressional aides. The White House doesn't dispute the figure. That pales next to the $400 billion or so in additional tax revenue Democrats have proposed in budget negotiations, and it's negligible compared with the $2 trillion-plus Republicans want to cut to match a two-year increase in the debt ceiling. There is also no direct relationship between preserving that tax break and cutting spending in any particular budget area, despite Obama's suggestion that federal programs for child safety would be at risk.

Instead, Obama seemed intent on highlighting an area of spending that the public might view as particularly egregious in a faltering economy, although he didn't suggest it would solve the entire problem. Other tax breaks he mentioned getting rid of Wednesday were for "millionaires and billionaires," oil companies and hedge fund managers.

___

OBAMA: "Moammar Gadhafi, who prior to Osama bin Laden was responsible for more American deaths than just about anybody on the planet, was threatening to massacre his people."

THE FACTS: Gadhafi's history of supporting terrorist acts lethal to Americans did not stop the Obama administration, like the Bush administration before it, from cultivating a relationship with him after he renounced terrorism. Gadhafi's government shared information on its nuclear program, tipped Washington about Islamic militants after the 2001 terrorist attacks and persuaded Western nations to lift sanctions.

Indeed, the Obama administration treated him with kid gloves in March 2010 after then-spokesman P.J. Crowley at the State Department joked about Gadhafi's call for a holy war against Switzerland. The spokesman apologized for making comments that were "perceived as a personal attack" against the Libyan leader and expressed regret that the remarks became "an obstacle to further progress in our bilateral relationship."

Obama only refocused on Gadhafi's past when a continued relationship became untenable after the crackdown on opponents of the Libyan government and the subsequent air campaign by U.S. and NATO forces.

Obama no doubt was referring to U.S. deaths from terrorist acts, not from foes in wartime, when he likened Gadhafi to bin Laden. The 1988 bombing of Pan Am 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, an act tied to Libya, killed 270 people, 189 of them American. Two Americans died in a Berlin disco bombing that wounded hundreds in 1986, and seven Americans were among the 170 dead when UTA Flight 772 crashed in the Niger desert in 1989 after a suitcase bomb exploded. Those attacks also were traced to Libya.

My friend's business grew after advertising on a social media site.

I know this one?social media production company?who advertises many different people?s business on different popular social media sites. It seems that whenever this one production company puts on a person?s business on a social media site that that person?s business always grows rapidly after just a few days of being on there. My friend happened to be one of those people. She called this social media production company and was amazed at just how many people started calling her and stopping into her boutique. She actually had to extend her business hours and even hired a few more people after just a couple days of advertising.?

Saturn is visible without using a telescope

Saturn, the sixth planet from the sun, is the most spectacular set of rings in the solar system. Saturn is known since prehistoric times. Saturn is visibly flattened (wafers) when viewed through a small telescope, its equatorial and polar differ diameter of almost 10% (120,536 km vs. Saturn too long ovals (red spot in the middle of the image on the right shows) and Other features common on Jupiter. Saturn's rings remained unique in the known solar system until 1977, when muchfaint rings around Uranus were (and shortly thereafter around Jupiter and Neptune) were discovered. Saturn is the least dense planet. Its specific gravity (0 Saturn is visibly flattened (wafers) when viewed through a small telescope, differ its equatorial and polar diameter of almost 10% (120,536 km vs.

Hassan Arif: NDP Liberal Merger or Proportional Representation?

While both the NDP and Liberals have put a halt to talks of merger, discussion of "uniting the left" is likely to continue among pundits and many party members. The concern is vote-splitting on the left which benefits Conservatives. For instance, in many ridings in the "905" region of suburban Toronto, it seems the NDP's "orange wave" helped Conservative candidates win.

There are reasons both Liberals and New Democrats would benefit from a merger. The NDP, assuming it can hold onto its Quebec gains, needs to expand support to areas that do not traditionally vote NDP, for example the suburban "905" where the party still, in most cases, placed third.

By contrast, the Liberals have a proven track record in many of these ridings (even if they were defeated in many of these places in 2011) in particular in places like Brampton and Mississauga where there are large populations of immigrants and visible minorities.

According to early findings from the Canadian Election Study, Conservative gains among immigrant voters have been overstated, and only Liberals registered positive on the "immigrant vote gap." That is, when the percentage of votes from non-immigrants was subtracted from the percentage from immigrants, only Liberals scored positive with the NDP and Conservatives scoring negative.

In the 1990s and early 2000s, the Reform Alliance had difficulty winning seats east of Manitoba, hence the merger with the Progressive Conservatives which was as much, if not more, about gaining legitimacy east of the Manitoba border as it was about vote-splitting.

For Liberals, combining their strength among visible minorities and immigrants -- and their strength in many suburban regions -- with the NDP could potentially mean an easier path to power for both parties.

However, there are reasons the Liberals and NDP would not want to merge. The NDP are hoping to completely displace the Liberals, crush them in 2015 and take their place as Canada's centre-left alternative.

Meanwhile the Liberals are hoping for a comeback; something that seems a possibility given that the NDP's Quebec gains came by appealing to nationalist voters. For Layton, it will be tough to satisfy Quebec nationalists while not alienating the rest of the country.

On policy, the differences between Liberals and New Democrats are less than what they were in the days of the NDP's predecessor, the CCF. Under Pearson and Trudeau the Liberals came to embrace the welfare state and socialized medicine; meanwhile the NDP in the 1990s and 2000s has moved to the centre, influenced by centrist third way ideas. However, there is an opening gulf between the two parties on national unity, on the Clarity Act, and the threshold for Quebec separation, as the NDP try to maintain the support of Quebec nationalists.

What's problematic is that a merger would reduce our political choices. One of Canada's strengths vis a vis the United States is that we have multiple parties, we are not forced to choose between two monolithic blocks. New parties bring new ideas, invigorating public debate.

However, there is the issue of vote-splitting.

The best solution may be for all three progressive parties -- the NDP, the Greens, and the Liberals -- to vigorously take up the cause of electoral reform. The NDP and Greens already support proportional representation; it is time for the Liberals to come on board. Through a system of proportional representation, the parties can maintain their autonomy and identity without splitting the vote.

Though Harper would not enact such a policy, he benefits from the current first-past-the-post system which favours a united right over a divided left. However, if the NDP, Greens, and Liberals can aim for at least a minority government situation in the next election, they could collectively have the clout to force electoral reform onto the Parliamentary agenda. In the meantime, between now and the next election, all three parties can vigorously promote proportional representation, and try to win the public over.

It is important, however, to urge some caution: electoral reform should not be considered solely a left-right issue, but be considered an issue of fairness. When there was a divided right, many in the Canadian Alliance were sympathetic to the cause of electoral reform. For many Red Tories the Conservative Party is too right wing; for many old-school Reformers, the party is not right wing enough.

Proportional representation, with multiple parties, would allow better representation of the diverse strands of conservatism.

Electoral reform is about fairness, about promoting choice, and preventing the necessity of merging parties into monolithic blocks to avoid vote-splitting. We need an electoral system that better reflects the will of voters, a system where a party cannot form a majority government with less than 40 per cent electoral support. At the current time, the best starting point of reform would be for the Liberals, NDP, and Greens to become strong advocates on the issue.

Propane Camp Stove: Top 5 Features To Look For

A propane camp stove can be one of the most valuable camping items you'll take with you on any camping trip. These versatile stoves are a great way to boil water or cook a gourmet meal on the trail or at the base camp site. Before you choose between portable camp stoves, though, have a look at this list of the top five features to look for in your new stove:

1. Wind Barriers
Many portable propane camp stoves come with wind barriers built-in, but if yours doesn't, you should definitely think about how to make one or buy one separately. Larger stoves, such as two and three burner options, often have a lid that folds up to become a wind screen for the back. It's best if these stoves also have fold-up sides that can become wind screens, as well.

2. Piezo Ignition
Piezo ignition is basically push-button ignition that starts your stove in one easy step. It's also sometimes referred to as, "matchless", because there's no need for matches to fire it up. A propane stove with push-button ignition is easier to get started, even on a windy day, so you waste less time trying to get your stove up and running and have more time to cook your food.

3. Pressure Regulation
Unfortunately not all models today have built-in pressure regulation systems in place. If you're looking for a stove that will consistently perform well in windy weather, at higher altitudes, and on propane fuel tanks that are getting low, this is a must-have. A propane camp stove that regulates the fuel pressure keeps your flame steadier and more consistent, which makes cooking easier.

4. Sensitive Controls
Another thing to look for in your portable stove is sensitive controls. All the best propane stoves, whether they're three-burner stoves or backpacking stoves, have very sensitive flame controls so you can boil or simmer, depending on your needs. Lower quality stoves will cook at one temperature: high. This means you're really limited as to what you can actually cook on your stove, so it's best to invest in a stove that has more sensitive controls.

5. Portability
Of course, one of the top features to look for in a propane camp stove is portability. It seems like a no-brainer, but some stoves are less portable than others. Backpacking stoves will ideally pack up into a cooking pot that can protect their more fragile elements from wear and tear. Most good 2 burner propane camp stove models (as well as 3 burner stoves) have a closing lid that locks in place effectively to make them easier to transport.

These five features are found on many of today's propane camping stoves, but not every propane camp stove will have all of them. Be sure to do your research and look at reviews of different stoves so that you find the perfect stove that has most or all of these features. This will ensure that you're making a better investment in your stove so that you'll get more for your money in the long run by having a stove that performs well and stands the test of time.

How To Find The Best Propane Camp Stoves
The first step to finding the best propane camp stove is to decide if you want a single burner, 2 burner, or even a 3 burner stove. The 2 burner propane camp stove is the most common, but there are even a few specialty models on the market that include a grill and Camp Chef even has one that has a built-in oven.

Once you know how many burners you'd like you'll want to compare the different models by the different manufacturers against each other for available features and best prices. Visit http://PropaneCampStoves.org where you will find side-by-side product comparisons of all the latest top-rated propane camping stoves to help you easily determine the best one for you.

West Indies hold their own against India

KINGSTON, Jamaica, June 21 (AFP): Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh struck flamboyant half-centuries, yet India endured a rocky start to the first Test against West Indies Monday.

Raina hit the top score of 82, and Harbhajan supported with 70, as the Indians, electing to bat, were dismissed for 246 in their first innings about 45 minutes after tea on an action-packed first day at Sabina Park.

Ishant Sharma then set West Indies back with the scalp of Lendl Simmons for three, as the home team reached 34 for one at stumps.

Sharma had Simmons caught at forward short leg off the inside edge, as West Indies faced a difficult 1? hours before the close.

Raina pummelled 15 fours from 115 balls in just over 2_ hours, and Harbhajan smote 10 fours and one six from 74 balls in just over two hours.

They propped up the innings with a seventh wicket stand of 146, after the visitors ran into trouble on 85 for six in the first 15 minutes after lunch.

The World No. 1 however, then lost their last four wickets cheaply.

Fidel Edwards, making a return to the international game after a two-year injury layoff, was the pick of the West Indies bowlers, finishing with four for 56 from 16 overs, justifying his selection ahead of Kemar Roach.

Ravi Rampaul ended with three for 59 from 18.2 overs, and leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo captured three for 75 from 11 overs.

Before lunch, India failed to justify their decision to bat, limping to 69 for four.

The Indians were rocked early on, when Murali Vijay was caught at backward point for eight slicing a drive off Rampaul, who also bowled debutant left-hander Abhinav Mukund off the inside edge for 11.

NBA Draft 2011: 3 GMs in the pressure cooker

Three GMs have more riding on the 2011 NBA Draft than the others. Posted by Ben Golliver.

kahn-morey-petrie

In all the NBA Draft over-analysis, mock drafting and trade rumors, it?s easy to lose track of a big picture, fundamental truth about this time of year: Thursday night means vastly different things to different teams.

For the league?s poorest sisters, it represents hope; for the middle of the road teams, it?s a bit of a crapshoot; for true contenders, it can become almost an afterthought. For rebuilding teams, it?s the center of years of planning; for veteran teams, it can be almost irrelevant. For small market teams, the draft is the best ? if not only -- chance they?ll get to land a superstar; for the successful larger markets, it can be just another day on the calendar.

The 2011 NBA Draft carries added importance for three franchises. Whether because of poor on-court performance, ?endless stagnation,?financial implications or potential relocation, the stakes are highest for three teams and their executives. With so much riding on the draft this year, a swing and a miss could prove fatal for these three chief basketball decision-makers.?

Minnesota Timberwolves ? David Kahn

Recent First Round Draft Record: Wesley Johnson (2010), Ricky Rubio (2009), Jonny Flynn (2009), Wayne Ellington (2009).

Let?s start with the Minnesota Timberwolves because articles about GMs potentially getting fired always start with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

President David Kahn has been the laughingstock of the NBA for a few years now, but he recently got in a few chuckles of his own when Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio finally decided to take his talentos to the Great White North. Rubio?s presence addresses Minnesota?s two biggest problems. They lacked a franchise-type point guard and desperately needed a hype factor to get fans in the seats following two seasons that produced a combined 32 wins.

There is a catch: Rubio might not actually be that good and it?s an open question whether Minnesota has the support system and personnel around him to ensure that he succeeds in the short-term.

The Timberwolves hold the No. 2 pick and have question marks up and down the roster. They?ll need to turn that pick and other fringe assets into multiple rotation players to ensure a smooth transition for Rubio and to keep Kevin Love from grumbling about his lot in life again.

Kahn has essentially staked his job on Rubio?s success as a pro. If the Timberwolves aren?t able to make significant forward progress in the 2011-2012 season, it?s difficult to envision their way too patient owner Glen Taylor letting Kahn have another go-round.

Houston Rockets ? Daryl Morey

Recent First Round Draft Record: Patrick Patterson (2010), Joey Dorsey (2008), Aaron Brooks (2007).

We?ve reached the point where the theoretical idea of Daryl Morey is far better than the actual Daryl Morey. The Rockets? famed ?Moneyball? style architect has gone years without drafting an impact player in the first round. Try as he might via the trade route, he hasn?t been able to locate a core building block to replace chronically injured center Yao Ming, so the franchise has spun its wheels, missing the playoffs in each of the last two seasons. The Rockets admitted to themselves that a rebuild was in order this summer, an idea that former coach Rick Adelman apparently didn?t take kindly to. Enter new coach Kevin McHale.

Focusing relentlessly on market inefficiencies can sometimes cloud the bigger picture. Star types win in the NBA, and the Rockets don?t have any. Kevin Martin and Luis Scola both exist one tier below where they need to be to truly build around long-term. The issues facing Houston next season, then, are two-fold: No one is going to get that roster to play harder and produce more than Adelman did, and the No. 14 spot on Thursday will not yield a franchise difference-maker.

To give the franchise some direction, Morey will need to get creative by packaging assets to get a true top end talent. There?s no better time to do that than draft week. Another NBA Draft week with a zero on the board, you would think, would force Rockets owner Les Alexander to change his thinking from ?What have you done for me lately?? to ?no, really, what have you actually done??

Sacramento Kings ? Geoff Petrie

Recent First Round Draft Record: DeMarcus Cousins (2010), Tyreke Evans (2009), Omri Casspi (2009), Jason Thompson (2008), Spencer Hawes (2007), Quincy Douby (2006).

The Maloof Family is a mess. The Kings? ownership group is bleeding money, selling off assets, skimping on payroll and hinting that they will try to leave Sacramento again after next season. The NBA had to step in this summer to help conduct the team?s basic business affairs. Sad stuff.

Kings president Geoff Petrie, despite solid picks in each of the last two drafts, has found himself in chopping block rumors for most of the last year. That?s what happens when your team misses the playoffs ? and misses out on playoff revenue ? for five straight seasons, winning just 66 combined in the last three years.

Sacramento is picking at No. 7 this year but has an ultimate trump card in the form of tons and tons of available cap space to facilitate trades. Of any team with just one first round pick, the Kings have the most flexibility and widest variety of options this week. With Evans and Cousins in place as core blocks, the mandate is clear: put pieces around them that will turn this into a fringe playoff contender. ?

Petrie isn?t simply drafting to keep his job. His decisions this week could ultimately impact whether the Kings win enough next season to keep the team in Sacramento. Given the shaky state of the Maloof family, the implications of the moves made this week could even extend to the ownership level. How many years of also-ran existence can the Maloof Family sustain before the coffers dry up? The Maloofs have steadfastly denied that they would ever sell the team but there could come a time when they don?t have a choice.

You want to talk about pressure? That?s pressure.?

End-games.

As my MTC entry date (July 27) begins to bump up against my consciousness I am making many important appointments: interviews, endowments, wisdom teeth removal, goodbye get-togethers, farewell talk, etc. I am extremely grateful for my mission call and couldn't be more ecstatic about my destination, but as I think more and more about Korea I can't help but feel how automatically intelligible Latinate languages are, how much more accessible almost anywhere else in the world seems than someplace of which I have zero mental concept. I have been many places and I know what to expect from international travel, particularly from the Arab world and super-metropolis cities. But I have not been anywhere like the Korean countryside and in my mind it is a question mark, which is less bad than it is totally blank. I simply don't know what's coming. I don't know what spending three months at the MTC will be like, and I don't know what I will feel when I am dropped into a country and expected to become eloquent and convincing enough to persuade a person to change the fabric of his or her life using a language I will have studied for only three months. What I do know is that I am an adjustable person and can make a life out of practically any circumstances, regardless of how heavily the shadow of change feels before I take the plunge. And I take comfort in the fact that it will be the Spirit, not me and my choppy Korean, that will convert the people who are ready to hear the truth.

Throughout my entire life I have consistently and naively jumped into the end-games of specialists; with no particular preparation I chronically end up in situations for which others spend years training. As a novice I skip into and out of culminating events in people's lives and once there I get my bearings, adapt, and eventually mold myself into a semi-functional entity appropriate for my context, at which point my timeline skips again and I find myself somewhere completely different. As the youngest member of a medical aid team in the Philippines I had to translate physicians' notes but spoke no Cebuano; as a fifteen-year-old I moved to England alone to study liberal arts at Cambridge; at nineteen I bought a sublease in Boston and trained in cutting-edge stem cell research at Harvard Medical School; my freshman year in college I found myself heading a DNA research team of male students five years my senior and TAing for almost-graduates; my introduction to Middle Eastern Studies came through months of trial and error feeling out linguistic and ideological divides in Jerusalem; I selected Arabic as my first second language with no previous linguistic background; for no apparent reason I decided that my "sport" would be adult figure skating and, skipping the first three classes, I spent weeks bruised and falling until I learned to spin.

Missionary work is another end-game, and as usual I know I will work alongside people far more qualified than I am, people who know what they're doing and what they're getting into because they've worked to become good at what they do. And as usual I will have to feel out my boundaries, figure out my position and lay out the things I don't know so I can learn to function in my context, modeling those I see and admiring their commitment and knowledge. But this time I am in for the long haul; months in Western Europe or even the Middle East are small potatoes compared to a year and a half in Southeast Asia. Thrilled to start my journey, I realize that it will be a journey, a long and difficult learning process peppered with both positive and negative experiences. I guess my time on such a path is a microcosm of life, a small iteration of my living fractal sped up to fit in eighteen months. As usual, I don't feel ready. I'm not ready. But maybe feeling ready is impossible, because I can't prepare for what I can't anticipate. And maybe I need to accept that and simply move forward in faith.

What You Need To Know About Women's Sports Medicine ? ArticleLearn.net

You as a woman can achieve excellence in any sport you set your mind to and be safe doing is thanks to recent advances in women?s sports medicine. Some women never give sports health a second thought until the obtain an injury but everyone should learn about what can be done to prevent issues in the future as well. Even though each sport has different risks so does each player of that sport which is why it?s so important to make sure you are listening to your body.

If you are in a fierce competition you are more likely to become injured no matter what age or gender you happen to be. If you are playing in any competitive sports it?s pretty likely that you will have times where you get caught up in the heat of the game and are enjoying every second of it. Don?t take unnecessary risks or forget to watch out for safety precautions to avoid injury. Make sure you stay hydrated during games, and drink water during any breaks. Incorrect movements can cause injury too so be careful you are using proper form. Keep muscles primed by doing some cool down stretching and take a shower after your game concludes.

The loss of bone mass is an issue most women face as they near middle age. This condition causes many women to be prone to osteoporosis, broken bones and other injuries related to bones.

When it comes to conditions like these the best approach is prevention which can be accomplished with regular exercise and a healthy diet. A healthy balance of strength training, calcium, Vitamin D, Iron and other essential nutrients are important to the health of your bones. You can determine how healthy your bones are by getting a bone density test.

In sports medicine, nutrition plays a large role, so women need to pay attention to their diets and possibly add certain supplements. Calcium is very important for women to maintain their bone health. MSM, glucosamine and chondroitin are normally found together in a formula, are very helpful if you are active. Fish oil capsules are very good for your bone health as well as your heart. Eating a health and balanced diet, as well as taking some supplements, will help your bones stay strong.

With women becoming more active in the same activities as men it?s no surprise that women?s sports medicine is growing quickly. It?s good to be aware of issues that women face in these activities so that you can get the maximum benefits and avoid injuries. Being aware of the above issues is only half the battle, it is also a good idea to have a reliable doctor that specializes in this area.

Unemployment fell in fewer than half US states (AP)

WASHINGTON ? Unemployment rates fell in fewer than half of U.S. states, evidence that slower hiring has affected many parts of the country.

The unemployment rates in 24 states dropped, the Labor Department said Friday. Rates rose in 13 states and Washington, D.C, and were flat in 13. That's a significant decline from April, when 39 states reported falling unemployment rates.

And only 22 states reported a net gain in jobs in May, while 27 states lost jobs. That's much worse than April, when 42 states gained jobs.

The changing trend in state unemployment rates reflect a weaker economy that has been hampered by high gas prices and lower factory output. Nationally, employers added a net gain of only 54,000 jobs in May, compared to an average of 220,000 per month in the previous three months. The U.S. unemployment rate ticked up to 9.1 percent.

California, New York and Pennsylvania reported large job losses, partly reversing gains earlier this year. California said employers cut 29,200 jobs last month, with big losses in professional and business services, which includes accounting, engineering, and temporary services. The construction sector also lost jobs.

New York said employers cut 24,700 jobs and Pennsylvania reported a drop of 14,200 jobs.

But those drops follow large gains in April and don't represent a longer-term trend, said Marissa DiNatale, a regional economist at Moody's Analytics. New York added 53,000 jobs in April, and Pennsylvania added 23,900.

"The actual picture of what's going on is somewhere in the middle" of the April and May figures, she said.

Florida, meanwhile, reported the biggest job gains. Employers in the Sunshine State added a net total of 28,000 positions. The state's unemployment rate dropped for the fifth straight month to 10.6 percent. The gains were mostly in education and health services and in leisure and hospitality, which includes amusement parks, hotels and restaurants.

The gains reflect some pickup in tourism that is boosting the state's theme parks and resorts, said Sean Snaith, an economist at the University of Central Florida.

While the state is adding jobs and unemployment is falling, the improvement is "moving at the speed of a glacier," Snaith said. He doesn't expect hiring to really accelerate until next year.

Earlier this year economists had expected much stronger job growth. But a payroll tax cut enacted in December hasn't spurred the additional consumer spending that many economists expected. Americans have had to spend most of the extra money to pay higher prices for food and gas.

The economy grew by only 1.8 percent in the January-March period, a sharp slowdown from the 3.1 percent annual pace in the October-December quarter.

Nevada had the highest unemployment rate among the states, at 12.1 percent, though that was down sharply from April's 12.5 percent. California had the second-highest rate, at 11.7 percent, down from 11.8, followed by Rhode Island at 10.9 percent, which was unchanged.

North Dakota reported the lowest unemployment rate, at 3.2 percent, followed by Nebraska at 4.1 percent and New Hampshire and South Dakota at 4.8 percent.

Crystal Harris Parties With Heidi Montag on Canceled Wedding Day (omg!)

Crystal Harris was supposed to become Mrs. Hugh Hefner Saturday, but after calling off her wedding earlier this week, the 25-year-old Playboy model flew to Las Vegas to party her sorrows away.

PHOTOS: Stars who've posed in Playboy

"I came to Vegas to hang out with my friends for the day," Harris explained to Radar Online. "I wanted to get away from L.A. so I didn't have to think about the wedding."

PHOTOS: Hugh Hefner's former flames

Wearing a skimpy black bikini and a Beach Bunny coverup, Harris spent the afternoon embracing the single life at Wet Republic with Heidi Montag. "It was too close to home in L.A.," Harris said. "I just want to relax and not think about the fact that this was my wedding day."

PHOTOS: More broken engagements

Hefner, 85, was notably more distraught over their sudden split. "This was going to be my wedding day, but life is full of surprises. After all is said and done, staying single is probably for the best," he tweeted Saturday. "With no wedding, we'll be running a movie tonight: Julia Roberts and Richard Gere in Runaway Bride. It seems appropriate."

New Mexico player arrested for wearing baggy pants

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Police say a University of New Mexico football player's saggy pants led to his arrest at San Francisco International Airport.

Sgt. Michael Rodriguez says 20-year-old Deshon Marman was boarding a flight Wednesday to Albuquerque, N.M., when a U.S. Airways employee noticed his pants were "below his buttocks, but above the knees, and his boxer shorts were showing."

Rodriguez tells the San Francisco Chronicle that the employee asked Marman to pull up his pants, but he refused. She then asked him to leave the plane.

The officer says that after 15 minutes, Marman got off the plane and was cited for trespassing.

Marman's mother, Donna Doyle, tells the paper that her son had attended a friend's funeral and he was still in an emotionally raw state.

US Airways spokeswoman Valerie Wunder says the airline's dress code forbids "indecent exposure or inappropriate" attire.

Windfarm sites review demands

Protest in Cardiff BayCampaigners are fighting plans for a substation and pylons in mid Wales
Related Stories

There are calls for the Welsh Government to look again at where windfarms can be sited.

Russell George, Conservative AM for Montgomeryshire, wants a review over a policy which earmarked seven areas of mid and south Wales as potential sites.

He was speaking after the Welsh Government announced plans to limit the number of windfarm developments.

Mr George said the policy - known as Tan 8 - is no longer "fit for purpose".

First Minister Carwyn Jones said his administration "would not support the construction of large pylons" in mid Wales, and wants previous guidelines for the number of windfarms to become maximum limits.

He said he would ask for powers to be devolved from Westminster to ensure it happens.

“I think it was short sighted back in 2005 ...not to anticipate the associated pylons and electricity substation that would be needed to support such large scale wind farm developments”

Russell George Montgomeryshire AM

The announcement has been welcomed by campaigners fighting plans for a 19-acre substation and dozens of pylons in mid Wales to serve new windfarms.

Mr George told BBC Radio Wales that Tan 8, which dates back to 2005, effectively encouraged windfarm developers to submit applications for the areas it identified.

He said there would be an opposition-led debate about the policy in the Senedd on Wednesday.

"We've got to ask the first minister to concede that Tan 8 is not fit for purpose and there needs to be an urgent review," he said.

"I think Carwyn is saying himself when we introduced this in the first place we did not quite realise it would mean this.

"I think it was short sighted back in 2005 ...not to anticipate the associated pylons and electricity substation that would be needed to support such large scale windfarm developments."

On Friday Mr Jones said the number of applications and declarations of interest from developers was higher than anticipated, leading to proposals for major overhead grid infrastructure.

He said: "The Welsh Government believes this level of development is unacceptable in view of its wider impacts on the local area."

He said the Tan 8 "capacities should be regarded as upper limits".

Overall responsibility for large-scale energy generation rests with the UK Government.

Mr Jones said he hoped the UK Government would "respect" his announcement and "not allow proliferation when they take decisions on individual projects in Wales".

He added: "My government would not support the construction of large pylons in mid Wales and my ministers are pressing this case with National Grid Transmission and with Ofgem.

"This situation amply illustrates why consents for major energy infrastructure projects must be devolved to Wales."
